MIAMI PETIT JURY INFORMATION SHEET
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND COMPLETELY
TAPE RECORDERS, COMPUTERS, TV'S, CAMERAS, RADIOS (INCLUDING
WALKMAN), KNIVES, ETC. ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE COURTHOUSE.
JUROR QUALIFICATION QUESTIONNAIRE:
It is mandatory that you complete and return the Juror Qualification Form immediately.
If you need assistance, please call telephone number 536-4361 during business hours (8:00 A.M.
to 5:00 P.M.). All requests for excusals or postponements must be in writing and received at
least ten days before the reporting date. Please do not phone in requests for excusals. IF YOU
SUBMIT A WRITTEN REQUEST TO BE EXCUSED NOW, YOU WILL RECEIVE
NOTIFICATION BY POST CARD ONE WEEK BEFORE YOUR REPORTING DATE.
IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE NOTIFICATION PLEASE CALL DURING BUSINESS
HOURS PRIOR TO REPORTING.
TERM OF SERVICE & HOURS:
The U. S. District Court uses a two week standby call in system for jurors. PLEASE CALL
THE TELEPHONE NUMBER ON YOUR SUMMONS AFTER 5:30 P. M. ON THE
WEEKEND BEFORE YOUR REPORTING DAY AND EVERY NIGHT THEREAFTER
FOR TWO WEEKS. Although jury service is for approximately two weeks, you probably will
not be asked to report every day. Do not report unless the initial of your last name is called. On
each day you are asked to report, unless otherwise instructed by the Jury Clerk or Trial Judge,
you will report at the time scheduled on the telephone recording system. It may be necessary to
extend your service beyond two weeks. A normal service day begins at 8:00 A. M. & concludes
at 5:00 P. M. You will be dismissed each day as soon as all jury needs for that day have been
met.
TRANSPORTATION, PARKING AND REIMBURSEMENT:
The pay for jury service is $40.00 per day unless you are a Federal employee and $0.31 per mile.
The designated parking lots are: PARKING COMPANY OF AMERICA, 424 N. Miami Ave.,
and COURTHOUSE PUBLIC PARKING, 90 N.W. 4th St. You will be reimbursed up to $4.00
if you park in an undesignated lot.
METRORAIL RIDERS: Exit metrorail at Government Center Station and take the Inner
Loop People Mover to the College North Station. See map for court location.
I-95 NORTH BOUND: Exit I-95 at N.W. 2nd Street continue north to N.W. 3rd Street and turn

I-95 SOUTH BOUND: Exit I-95 at N.W. 8TH Street (Miami Arena Exit) continue south to

directly participate in the operation of government and help to ensure fairness in the
administration of justice. We welcome you as a juror and hope that you will find the experience
